What should I do if my pet has an emergency after hours?
If your pet experiences an emergency outside of our business hours, please do not wait—proceed to the nearest 24-hour emergency veterinary facility right away. Do you perform orthopedic surgeries?
Yes. Through our partnership with mobile veterinary surgeon Caleb Vaughan, DVM, we're able to offer advanced orthopedic surgical procedures right here at our clinic. Dr. Vaughan performs orthopedic surgeries at our facility based on his availability, which means your pet can receive specialized surgical care in a familiar environment—without the added stress of traveling to an outside specialty hospital.
Orthopedic procedures we offer include cruciate ligament repair, TPLO surgery, fracture stabilization, patellar luxation correction, and more. If your pet has been diagnosed with an orthopedic condition or is showing signs of joint pain or lameness, we'd love to discuss your options. Learn more about our pet orthopedic surgery services.
Does your office accept checks?
We do not accept personal checks as a form of payment. We're happy to work with you on other payment options to make sure your pet gets the care they need. For more information about accepted payment methods, please visit our payment options page or call us at (817) 598-0886.
Can I choose my doctor?
Absolutely. You are more than welcome to request any of our available veterinarians for your pet's appointment. We understand that the relationship between a pet owner and their veterinarian is an important one, and we want you and your pet to feel comfortable and confident in the care you receive. Simply let our team know your preference when scheduling, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Do you require a yearly examination?
Yes, an annual wellness exam is required to maintain an active Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) with our clinic. This is not simply a policy requirement; it's a meaningful safeguard for your pet's health. An active VCPR is what allows our veterinarians to legally and responsibly prescribe medications, make diagnoses, and provide ongoing treatment for your pet.
Beyond the legal and medical necessity, yearly exams give our team the opportunity to evaluate your pet's overall health, catch early signs of illness, update vaccinations, and discuss any changes in behavior or condition you've noticed at home. It's one of the most important things you can do for your pet's long-term well-being. Learn more about what's included in our pet wellness exams.
Do you require a yearly heartworm test?
Yes, we do require an annual heartworm test for dogs in our care. Heartworms are transmitted through mosquito bites and can cause severe, life-threatening damage to your pet's heart, lungs, and blood vessels—and Texas's warm climate means mosquito exposure is a year-round concern.
Annual heartworm testing ensures that your pet's prevention protocol is working as intended. No preventive product is 100% guaranteed, and testing each year allows us to catch any infection as early as possible, when treatment is most effective. We want to make sure the preventives are doing their job—which is protecting your pet. Learn more about our approach to pet parasite control.
Do you require annual bloodwork?
We don't require annual bloodwork, but we do strongly recommend it—and here's why. Routine blood panels allow our team to establish baseline values for your individual pet and detect early signs of illness before they become more serious problems. Many conditions, including kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, and thyroid disorders, develop quietly and don't produce obvious symptoms until they've progressed significantly.
The earlier we catch a shift in your pet's lab values, the more options we have for managing or treating the underlying cause. For senior pets, especially, we recommend more frequent bloodwork to stay ahead of age-related health changes. It's a small investment that can make a meaningful difference in your pet's long-term health. Learn more about our pet laboratory testing services.
Do you provide at-home euthanasia services?
Due to the demands of our in-office schedule, we are not currently able to offer at-home euthanasia services. We understand that this option is deeply important to some families, and we want to make sure you have access to the support you need.
If you're interested in in-home euthanasia services, we encourage you to contact Serenity Pet Care, a compassionate provider we trust to care for families during this difficult time:

Do you provide emergency C-sections?
Yes. We provide emergency cesarean section deliveries when a natural birth is not progressing safely. This is a time-sensitive procedure, and our team is prepared to act quickly when a mother and her litter need immediate intervention.
If you believe your pet is having difficulty giving birth or is showing signs of distress during labor, please call us immediately at (817) 598-0886 so our team can prepare for your arrival. Learn more about our emergency pet care services and soft tissue surgery capabilities.
