What equine services does Foland Veterinary Services offer?

Breeding
We can help you ensure a successful breeding experience by performing breeding soundness exams, following your mare’s cycle to determine the best time for breeding, and monitoring your horse throughout pregnancy.

Foaling Services
When it is time for your horse to give birth, we can help ensure a smooth delivery, and take care of any complications that may arise. After birth, we will assess the dam and foal to ensure both are doing well, and help you set the foal up for a healthy start in life.

Embryo Transfer
We are able to transfer a fertilized egg from a donor mare into your horse to increase the likelihood of a successful pregnancy. Embryo transfer is typically performed in mares with low fertility due to age, or uterine or ovarian abnormalities.

Semen Collection and Storage
After safely collecting semen from your stallion, we will evaluate sperm concentration, morphology, and mobility to ensure a quality sample, and then freeze the semen for future use.

Sports Medicine
Through a thorough lameness workup involving flexion tests and nerve and joint blocks, we can determine the source of your horse’s pain, and help them return to peak performance, whether that involves leisure trail riding or competitive barrel racing.

General and Internal Medicine
We can diagnose and manage a variety of equine health problems, from acute cases of colic, to chronic conditions such as arthritis and pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (PPID, i.e., Cushing’s disease).

Nutritional Consulting
Appropriate nutrition is critically important to ensure your horse’s entire body, from their gastrointestinal (GI) tract to their coat, remains healthy. We are happy to assess your horse’s current diet and body condition, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.

Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA)  Certificates
A negative Coggins test confirms your horse is free from equine infectious anemia (EIA), and is required for all travel between states, and at most equine facilities. We provide the AGID or ELISA test, which provides faster results for last-minute travel plans.
